Our Duke of Edinburgh programme is run by Miss Trevis and Mrs Gemmell

At Alloa Academy we pride ourselves in offering students the opportunity to gain a Duke of Edinburgh award. Pupils aged 14 or above in S3-6 can participate in the programme. This can be chosen as an elective for seniors. Alloa Academy is a fully Licenced Organisation and has been running the DofE programme successfully since 2017.

There are four sections to complete at Bronze and Silver level and five at Gold: Volunteering, Skills, Physical & Expedition. They involve helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition and, for Gold only, working with a team on a residential activity.

Any young person can do their DofE – regardless of ability, gender, background or location. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about being first. It’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries. At Alloa Academy, we fully fund DofE places and even kit out our pupils fully for an expedition.

Young people are responsible for creating and doing their own DofE programmes, but parents and carers can play an important role in supporting them.
