Food Technology at Alloa Academy

At Alloa Academy, our Food Technology Department plays a vital role in equipping pupils with practical skills for everyday life. Pupils are given the opportunity to prepare and cook different dishes, learn about the links between our diet and health and wellbeing, develop basic textile skills, time management skills, and leadership skills. Our learners gain real-world knowledge that supports their personal growth and future opportunities.

In the senior phase we offer pupils the opportunity to study National 5 Practical Cookery, N5/Higher Health and Food Technology and Level 6 Leadership through Hospitality.

Our approach is guided by the values of Resilience, Ambition, and Respect:

  • We build resilience by encouraging pupils to tackle challenges, learn from experience, and develop confidence through hands-on tasks.

  • We inspire ambition by helping learners set goals, take pride in their achievements, and explore future careers in health, hospitality, and creative industries.

  • We promote respect by creating a positive learning environment where collaboration, responsibility, and understanding of others are at the heart of everything we do.
